Our Story
Fire Protection Specialists (FPS) was founded in 1991 with a mission to provide comprehensive fire safety solutions. Tom Anderson started FPS with a trip to Chicago, securing a partnership with Amerex, a respected name in fire protection. With an initial $2,500 loan, he bought the company’s first vehicle, an ’82 Ford van, which became a key tool for delivering essential services. By 1993, FPS hired its first employee and expanded its vehicle fleet, marking the beginning of a dedicated team.
In 1994, FPS broadened its services by adding hood cleaning, and a year later, Tom established the company’s first shop in Barre Mills, WI, alongside a new Fire Suppression Systems Division. The company continued to grow, launching a Fire Alarm Division in 2000, which led to moving into a larger, 10,000-square-foot facility in Bangor, WI, in 2004.
FPS further expanded in 2018 with a second location in Eau Claire, WI, meeting growing demand across the state. In 2024, FPS continued its development, acquiring the building next to its Bangor headquarters to create a dedicated space for its Hood Cleaning Division and a state-of-the-art conference room, transforming the Bangor site into a complete FPS campus and operational hub.
